ABOUT THE EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Dan Carey, Ph. D. is an Assistant Professor in the Health and Human Performance Department of the University of St. Thomas. In addition to teaching such courses as Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and Statistics in the Exercise Sciences, he has an extensive background in exercise physiology research. He has conducted tests to assess the effectiveness of the Breathe Right Nasal Dilator in aerobic and anaerobic andurance. He has done laboratory testing of various exercise devices created by Nordic Track, including their well-known ski ergometers.

His area of expertise is in body composition assessment, where he has published his dissertation entitled "Comparison of the Validity of Two Methods for Assessing Body Composition in College Football Players."

He recently conducted an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) aproved seminar on fad diets, supplements and exercise for weight control. He is in the process of developing another seminar on testing and training the endurance athlete. He serves on the editorial board of the newly-created Health and Wellness Magazine. He is a competitive cyclist and a former professional baseball player for the New York Mets.
